Privacy Policy

Summary: Infinite IEP (Free) is a browser extension that helps special education teachers draft IEP goals and PLAAFP statements. We do not operate servers that store your student data. Text you enter is sent directly to the AI provider you choose (e.g., Google Gemini). API keys are kept in memory for your browser session only and are never saved to disk.

1. Who we are

2. Scope

This policy applies to the Infinite IEP Chrome extension (Free edition) and any related support pages at this website. It does not apply to third-party AI providers or your school district's IEP systems (e.g., SEIS, Frontline, Embrace).

3. Information we collect

We do not collect, store, or sell personal information on our servers. The extension runs locally in your browser. The following data stays on your device:

• Preferences — AI provider choice, model name, and Ollama server URL (stored in Chrome local storage).
• Draft text — Optional saved observation or PLAAFP notes you enter (stored in Chrome local storage on your device).
• API keys — Not stored. Keys you enter exist in memory for the current browser session only and are cleared when you close the browser.

4. Information sent to third parties

When you click Generate, the extension sends your input text and system prompts to the AI provider you select:

• Google Gemini — Gemini API Terms
• OpenAI — OpenAI Privacy Policy
• Anthropic — Anthropic Privacy Policy
• Local Ollama — Data stays on your machine; no cloud transmission.

We do not intercept, log, or retain these requests on our servers. Your relationship with the AI provider is governed by their terms and your API account settings.

5. PII scrubbing

The extension includes optional paste-time scrubbing that attempts to replace student names and pronouns with "the student" before text is sent to an AI provider. This feature is a convenience aid, not a guarantee. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with FERPA and your district's policies before submitting any content to third-party AI services.

6. Student data and FERPA

• Do not enter personally identifiable student information (full names, dates of birth, student IDs) unless your district has approved use of the selected AI provider.
• This tool is intended for use by educators, not students.
• We are not a "school official" under FERPA and do not enter into student data agreements for the Free edition's BYOK model.
• Always review AI-generated IEP content before filing official documents.

7. Children's privacy (COPPA)

The extension is designed for adult educators. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through our support channels, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Analytics and cookies

The extension itself does not use analytics cookies or tracking pixels. This privacy policy page may use standard web server logs if hosted on a third-party platform (e.g., Cloudflare Pages); those logs are governed by the host's policy.

9. Data retention and deletion

• Local storage: Uninstall the extension or clear Chrome extension data to remove saved preferences and drafts.
• API keys: Cleared automatically when the browser session ends.
• AI provider data: Retention is controlled by your chosen provider; review their policies and account settings.

10. Security

We design the extension to minimize data exposure: no cloud database, session-only API keys, and direct browser-to-provider communication. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; use district-approved providers and keys.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
